
The 22nd General Assembly Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) was held in Beijingon September 10. The theme of the general assembly was ‘Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation In 2014 and In The Future’.
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established for 25 years and ‘Bogor Goals’ were proposed for 20 year still 2014. More than 300 political, business and academic representatives from 24 member economies in Pacific Economic Cooperation Council deeply discussed and exchanged aiming at topics of ‘New Normal State: Economic Transformation in Asia-Pacific Region’, exploration of new impetus and new mode in economic growth, Chinese entrepreneur participation in regional economic cooperation, situation and prospects of Asia-Pacific financial cooperation, etc.
Hong Changxi, General Manager of Sanxin Group, was newly elected as vice president of the 4th Committee in Liaoning Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (PECC or LNPECC), who was invited to attend the general assembly.
Tang Guoqiang, President of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, said that Pacific Economic Cooperation Council plays an important role in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) policy -making process by providing intellectual support. Pacific Economic Cooperation Council not only focuses on related agenda of regional economic cooperation in 2014, but also pays attention to regional economic cooperation and integration long-term development based on deep understanding on APEC and its mission.
Pacific Economic Cooperation Council was established in 1980 as one of the three observer organizations of APEC. It belongs to a non-governmental organization participated by government officials, senior academics and businessmen from more than 20 Asia Pacific economies.
The general assembly was sponsored by China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation. Consensus and policy recommendations formed in the General Assembly will be regarded as achievement of general assembly, and formulated into text report for APEC as reference
